buzzerblog - 'India’s Got Latent' Controversy: Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija Apologize to NCW

YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija have issued written apologies to the National Commission for Women (NCW) following backlash over offensive remarks made on the online show India’s Got Latent. NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar confirmed on Friday (March 7, 2025) that their statements were deemed "simply not acceptable."

NCW Summons and Apologies

The controversy escalated after the Maharashtra Cyber Police filed an FIR against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, and others for allegedly broadcasting obscene content. This came after a similar case was lodged by the Assam Police on February 10.

On Thursday, Allahbadia, Mukhija, and show producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra appeared before the NCW and were reportedly questioned for hours. Following the hearing, they expressed deep regret and submitted formal apologies.

NCW’s Firm Stance

During a press conference, Ms. Rahatkar stated that the commission "will not tolerate the use of inappropriate language" and emphasized the social impact of their remarks. She noted that all four individuals "acknowledged their mistake and assured they would be more mindful in the future."

Ranveer Allahbadia’s Assurance

Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, specifically vowed to be more respectful, stating:
"This is the first and last time such a mistake has happened. From now on, I will think carefully and speak with respect about women."

Legal Proceedings & Supreme Court’s Take

The NCW initiated action after Allahbadia and others made controversial statements on Samay Raina’s show, sparking public outrage. Multiple FIRs were lodged against him for his remarks regarding parents and sex.

While the Supreme Court granted him interim protection from arrest, it strongly criticized his comments, calling them "vulgar" and stating he had a "dirty mind" that shamed society.

With the case gaining national attention, the incident serves as a reminder of the fine line between humor and offensiveness, and the legal consequences of crossing it.
