buzzerblog - Will Sheikh Hasina Return as Bangladesh’s Prime Minister? Awami League Leader Makes Bold Claim

Sheikh Hasina

Awami League Vice President Dr. Rabbi Alam has expressed grave concerns over the situation in Bangladesh, claiming the country is “under attack” and calling for international intervention.

India’s Role in Sheikh Hasina’s Safety

Speaking to ANI in Kolkata, Alam, a close associate of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, extended gratitude to India and PM Narendra Modi for ensuring her safe travel and shelter.

🔹 “Bangladesh is under attack, and it needs to be addressed by the international community. This is not a political uprising, but a terrorist one.”

🔹 “Many of our leaders are sheltered in India, and we are thankful to the Indian government for their support.”

He further claimed that the young generation in Bangladesh was manipulated into making a mistake but insisted that Hasina would return as PM.

Sheikh Hasina’s Assets Seized

Meanwhile, a Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of Hasina’s residence 'Sudhasadan' in Dhanmondi, along with 124 bank accounts and other family properties. The ruling came after a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The seized assets also belong to:
Sajib Wazed Joy (Hasina’s son)
Saima Wazed Putul (Hasina’s daughter)
Sheikh Rehana (Hasina’s sister)
Tulip Siddique & Radwan Mujib Siddique (Hasina’s nieces)

Bangladesh Protests Hasina’s Statements

Amidst these events, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs lodged a strong protest with India, asking New Delhi to curb Hasina’s statements on social media.

The protest note, delivered to India’s Acting High Commissioner in Dhaka, claimed that Hasina’s remarks were inciting instability and hurting public sentiment.

Ousted Amid Student-Led Protests

Hasina was removed from power on August 5 following weeks of student-led protests and violent clashes, which resulted in over 600 deaths.

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has also issued arrest warrants against Hasina and 10 others, including:
🔹 Former Defence Adviser Major General (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique
🔹 Former IGP Benazir Ahmed

After fleeing to India, an interim government led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus took charge of Bangladesh.

What’s Next for Hasina?

With rising tensions and Bangladesh urging India to rein in Hasina, her return as PM remains uncertain despite claims from Awami League leaders.
